Built to Last is a faith driven coming of age story based on true events. Essence, a young woman who transforms grief into purpose after the sudden death of her partner, discovers herself on her journey of faith. Chasing their shared dream, she leaves the streets of Philly behind to pursue fashion in Los Angeles. Along the way she finds healing and strength through sisterhood, creativity, and the bold decision to build something greater than herself.

When I was first approached with this film, I immediately felt a deep personal connection — it brought me back to the loss of my own father. At its core, this is a story about resilience in the face of grief: how pain and hope can coexist, and how “coming out on top” often means simply surviving the fire and finding yourself stronger for it. I wanted to explore the true meaning of community — the people who step in when you need them most — and to shine a light on the quiet, unseen battles fought in the midst of mourning. Through an ensemble cast and a narrative rooted in true events, my goal is to honor the story of Amber Wyche, our Creative Director, while leaving audiences with a renewed sense of hope. No matter how heavy the odds stacked against us, there is always a way forward. This is a journey of faith.
